Even in the midst of economic hardship, the spirit of entrepreneurship still reigns in the Empire State. More than 128,339 New York corporations were formed last year, according to New York Secretary of State Lorraine A. Cortés-Vázquez. But when times were worse, there were even more people who decided it was time to start a business. In 2008, there were 137,180 corporations formed, a 6.4 percent difference from 2009.   more »
